Alila Purnama, one of the most luxurious Phinisi ships in Asia, is putting fresh wind in her sails with the launch of two new exciting routes in September and October. Guests can step onboard the 150ft two-masted ship and sail to lesser-known corners of Indonesia in the lap of luxury. Maumere – Ambon Expedition Launching on 26 September – 6 October 2016

The first ten-day expedition launching in September will depart from Maumere, on the eastern coast of Flores Island, and set sail to the fertile and mountainous island of Ambon. Cloaked in tropical rainforest, Ambon Island is part of a chain of volcanic islands on the northern side of the world-famous Banda Islands. Renowned historically for their strategic role in the spice trade, the Banda Islands are also well known today for their breath-taking landscape, incredible marine life and astonishing coral reefs. Guests will discover the rich cultural traditions of the people of Lembata Island and dive in the straits of Alor, rated as one of the best dive destinations in the world, offering sightings of big fish such as white tips, grey reef sharks, tuna, grouper, manta rays, whale sharks and pilot whales. The island of Ambon will be the starting point for the second seven-night voyage departing in October. Alila Purnama will then continue north to the archipelago of Raja Ampat, described as the last paradise on earth, where crystal clear waters teem with an astonishing diversity of marine life. Next, the ship will cruise through stunning dives sites and islands on the Banda Sea and Ceram Sea.
