15 Jun Celebrate 30th Anniversary – Aman Announces Exclusive Collection Of Swim Shorts With Frescobol Carioca
Aman is delighted to introduce a bespoke collection of tailored swim shorts and resort-wear for men, in collaboration with effortlessly refined swimwear brand, Frescobol Carioca.
Thoughtfully designed, the capsule collection, draws on the individuality of eight Aman destinations, whilst at the same time weaving in Frescobol Carioca’s signature aesthetic of impeccably crafted bold yet elegant prints.
Utilising sophisticated fabrics, the beach-focused range is designed with practicality in mind, allowing for an easy transition from beach to beach bar, yet captures the effervescent spirt and soul of each Aman destination through eye-catching prints.
In a first for Frescobol Carioca, the men’s swimwear designers have made a departure from their signature graphics, inspired by the mosaic pathways and landscape of Brazil and Rio de Janeiro, and instead turned to the unique destinations of eight Aman sanctuaries for inspiration – Amanjiwo in Indonesia, Amankora in Bhutan, Amanzoe in Greece, Amanoi in Vietnam, Amanpuri in Thailand, Amangiri in the United States, Amanwella in Sri Lanka and Amanjena in Morocco.
The Jiwo short, named after Aman’s spiritual hideaway in Borobudur, Amanjiwo, embodies the essence of the destination, and incorporates intricate batik patterns reminiscent of the magnificent temples of Borobudur. Available in a forest green shade, the short is inspired by the lush jungle that surrounds the hotel.
The Kora short, meanwhile, is richly hued in reds, sunflower yellows, and blues, recognising the abundance of colour present in Bhutanese textiles, with the seamless repeated pattern reflecting the meaning of Amankora’s name “circular pilgrimage”.
The Zoe short for Amanzoe takes its cue from Greek architectural motifs, and the Peloponnese coast on which the secluded resort is located, and is available in an azure ‘Greek’ blue and white evil eye print, reflective of the Greek symbiotic relationship with the sea.
Perhaps the most subtle of the collection is Amanoi’s Noi short, which draws on the shapes and textures of the centuries-old tradition of silk weaving and embroidery in Vietnam, in a warm yellow and blue print.
Frescobol then turned to Aman’s first resort, Amanpuri in Phuket, to create the Puri short. The design team translated the meaning of the resort, ‘place of peace’, into a gentle, contrasting, sinuous form reminiscent of the temples of ancient Ayutthan architecture in a tranquil colour palette of navy and blue.
Pale greens and blues merge to form angular patterns for the Jena short, named after Moorish Amanjena in Marrakech whilst tribal colours in earthy shades of ochre, pinks and browns make up the backdrop of the Giri short, inspired by the luminous canyons of the American southwest where Amangiri calls home.
The final piece of the collection, the Wella short, nods to the beach of Tangalle where Amanwella resides and the surrounding visual culture of Sri Lanka.
The specially adapted styles have each been designed with a modern lifestyle in mind, and have been created especially for Aman which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2018.
Each style features bespoke ultra-quick drying polyamide fabric, side fasteners, a real button fly, and a fitted cut in a choice of lengths.
The collection is complemented by essential pieces of resort-wear which include cool cotton t-shirts, and crisp linen shirts in neutral palettes of beige, white and light blue.
The Frescobol Carioca for Aman collection will be available to purchase both in select Aman boutiques around the world and on the Frescobol Carioca website.
